what is project gemini?
Project Gemini is an experimental music distribution service. Right now it's very experimental, so expect a few surprises here and there.
Here's everything you need to know, if you'd like to try it:
- Players. Gemini players are shareable music players, kind of like YouTube videos or SoundCloud widgets. You can embed them on web pages or share links with your friends. You can always listen to music for free on Gemini players.
- Downloading. If you like the music on a Gemini player, click the link that says "click for more". You'll be able to download the music and see liner notes and photos that go with it. You can also see collections of music liked by people who like the same things you do.
- Getting an identity. If you want to access your music collection on more than one computer or if you'd like to hear other people's music collections, you'll need an identity. To create an identity, give us a user name, contact email and password, and then you can use them to log in on other computers.
- Albums. Gemini albums are a little like traditional albums and a little like blogs. They include several tracks of music, like an album. But they can also be updated and visitors can add comments, like a blog. The top 5 albums are listed on the right.
